About

Rose Marie Ottman is a certified teacher of Pilates (since 1998) and the GYROTONIC® method (since 2004) located in South Lake Tahoe.  She teaches group Pilates mat classes and for private sessions utilizes the GYROTONIC® Pulley Tower Combination Unit, Clinical Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, Spine Corrector, Ladder Barrel and a variety of apparatus such as rotator disks, foam rollers, balance boards, myofascial body rolling balls, and BOSU. Her private sessions are tailored to fit the individual’s needs and goals. She works with her clients to address their severe back pain; foot, knee, hip and shoulder injuries; post-physical therapy surgery rehabilitation; and a variety of issues related to senior populations, such as osteoporosis and Parkinson’s disease.

Ms. Ottman holds a B.A. in Dance from the University of California, Irvine.  She was previously a professional modern dancer in Los Angeles and New York City, and incorporates her dance skills in her current work.  She approaches teaching from a holistic mind/body/spirit perspective and strives to prevent injuries and enhance the quality of her clients’ daily living by teaching proper body mechanics.

When Rose Marie moved to South Lake Tahoe, CA in 1999, she discovered that the more isolated teaching environment allowed her to creatively explore her own ideas and experiences.  She continues to update her knowledge with regular conferences, training programs and exchanges with fellow teachers to maintain a fresh perspective.  Rose Marie believes that education is a lifelong pursuit.  “My ability to effectively teach is only as good as my own willingness to learn and grow as a student.”

Rose Marie’s goal for this blog is to share her knowledge and experience as a mind/body teacher and to provide an additional resource to others as a way to “pay it forward.”

Hi Rose Marie, I just want to thank you for putting together this site. As a new Pilates instructor, I often feel ill epiupped to train my clients who are suffering from various injuries and or pathologies. I am constantly doing research to discover how I can best serve these people. Thank you for sharing your expertise. I am so grateful for the help!

  5. Hi Rose Marie, You helped me recover after I was hospitalized for acute bronchitis +asthma plus a form of pneumonia when you taught at Kahle Community Ctr.
I now have severe forms of many back conditions, have had neck + back surgeries, plus I’ve been advised I need additional surgeries I’d like to avoid. I’ve just become acquainted w/the pilates term “fragile back,” which seems to be an accurate description.
I’m seeking to regain my mobility, function, balance + stability, strength, muscle, +, ultimately, my life. I’m hoping you can be a resource to me as I haven’t found resources for people like myself. I’m very keen to see your blog as well. Thank you, Rose Marie. I’ll look forward to your reply ☺
